didn't see much olympics this few days.
but add the following events to the "memorable events" list:
women's gymnastics.
for the team event, china won the US
...
didn't like that -.-
as for singles,
liukin> shawn johnson > china girl
i had wanted shawn to win actually,
cos she has so much sportsmanship.
the best i have seen yet,
you just...feel good watching her.
cheering her teammate who accidentally fell on the beam ( during the team event )
then congratulating her opponents during the singles event.
i like her cute toothy grin too.
i hope she wins in the years to come..
US dominated basketball games again.
was this today? cant recall.
anyway i remember watching germany's ping-pong men team play against japan.
there was this german couple the camera focused on.
during the break, the guy started cheering " Go Dimitrij "
and his wife shouted the reply " Jhia (2) you (1) "
i knew it was her from the accent of those words.
looked so cute together, cheering lonely, yet so proudly.
the chinese supporters helped them cheer as well later on :D
watching this game also changed my stereotype of only china people will take up a professional career in ping-pong o.o
as in all the players in the germany team are local germans.
i like the dimirtrij guy too, he had this unorthodox serve method.
refreshingly unique.
i was flipping channels and i saw the ending of the match between italy and belgium.
last 15-20 minutes or so.
i think it was yesterday.
italy scored a penalty.
a few minutes after that, a belgium guy ran, twist, twist, 1-2 pass, twist and shot.
he scored and after the goal replays, i saw the funniest thing.
a belgium player picked the ball and celebrated.
after that he threw the ball back...
..which coincidentally hit the italy's goalkeeper right in his head.
hahah
the complete innocence of that belgium player when that goalkeeper lunged and brought him down after that added to the funny factor. 8D
the goalkeeper went on to strangle another guy later on too.
jeez, all over a misunderstanding.
there was also another funny incident in the hockey match between great britain and canada today.
a great britain player was trying to steal the ball from a canada player.
he was so so aggressive that the canada player lost his balance and half-fell on the britain guy's back.
of course, the britain guy got called by the referee for a stick check.
THEN, with the canada guy still over his shoulder, like a sack of rice, he stood up and threw the canada guy behind and onto the floor.
like some kind of crazy rugby tackle..
..in hockey.
ridiculously foolishly funny.
Usain's Bolt run.
or Usain Bolt's run.
they mean the same thing anyway.
it seemed so easy...
:\
damn cool name by the way - Bolt.
phelps did it.
wow.
eight.
that should be unsurpassed in the next 5 decades at least.
what most people, i think, is admire how fast he is or something superficial.
what they should appreciate instead is his consistency, and the mental and physical toughness and tiredness he has to endure in his total 17 races.
that's truly remarkable!
last but not least, singapore's silver medal!
yay!
i didn't see much of the semi-final.
i came back at about 2.30 on friday.
read the papers that singapore was playing.
watched a little but i left the house about 3.
i watched only the last set of feng tianwei's game and first set of li jiawei's game, to be exact.
when i came back and showered, it was about 6 plus.
Randomly switched on the tv again and saw the last five points in the last game,
which feng won.
haha
i saw zixiang and pao jung in the saturday's TODAY paper and today's 9.30 channel 5 news.
:D
then there was the final today, which they lost.
but good job anyway!
